Jack Mattox Recreation Complex
The 55-acre Jack Mattox Recreation Complex opened in 1999 and was named after the county's first recreation director. The Complex has seven lighted ball fields, a walking track, and a fishing pond. There are three Recreation Associations (Boynton, Ringgold and Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe) located throughout Catoosa County. These Associations facilitate and promote a variety of athletic programs and leisure based activities. Allocated S-P-L-O-S-T revenues continue to be used for park grounds and new fields for baseball, soccer, and football.

Dragging Canoe Launch
The Dragging Canoe Launch is located right off the Chief Richard Nature Trail. The easiest way to access the Canoe Launch is to park in the Creekside lot and walk towards the Nature Trail from there. The Dragging Canoe Launch offers visitors the chance to launch their own canoe or kayak and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Ringgold along the South Chickamauga Creek.
Chief Richard Taylor Nature Trail
The Chief Richard Taylor Nature Trail is an integral part of the Ringgold community, providing several passive and active recreation opportunities. Bring your own kayak or canoe to the Dragging Canoe Launch to enjoy a ride down the Chickamauga Creek, or go for a walk, jog, or bike ride on the paved 1.5-mile trail. The paved path will take you in and around large hardwoods, over a large beaver pond, and as you approach the heart of the historic Ringgold Gap, you’ll witness a beautiful waterfall. There are also several hammock outposts along the creek bank for you to set up a hammock to enjoy the scenic views. Keep walking along the trail, and you'll eventually be walking along the Creek Walk. The Creek Walk is a collection of walking paths that link the Highway Commercial district, Clark Park, and the Nature Trail to the sidewalks of Ringgold’s Historic Downtown district. The connectivity between these areas allows visitors to enjoy both the bustling activity of downtown and the peace and tranquility of the great outdoors.
